Let’s Measure Your Space!

It’s not difficult, I promise! We’ll take it step by step!

1. SKETCH

Sketch your space on a blank piece of paper. Be sure to include windows, doors, and any built-in elements. It doesn’t have to be to scale. Don’t be afraid to write notes or annotations as you see fit (see example).

Just do your best! I’ll ask questions if anything is unclear.

2. MEASURE

Grab your measuring tape and get going! Note the dimensions on your sketch as you go (see example).

A couple things:

  • Measure your windows from the outside of the window casing (the widest part of the window).

  • Make note of the ceiling height, if possible.

  • Include door width.

Be sure to double check your dimensions!

3. FURNITURE

Measure any furniture that you plan on keeping. Include height, width and depth, as well as clear pictures.

4. SEND ‘EM

Scan your sketch with dimensions (or take a really clear, well lit photo). If you have an iPhone, your Notes app has a good scanner. Open the Notes app, create a new Note, click the camera icon, select “Scan Documents”, and take a picture of your sketch. Email your sketch with dimensions to me at caroline@carolinekleindesign.com!
